Verbania

Verbania

Verbania is a town formed by several small villages; the most picturesque ones are Intra, Pallanza and Suna since they are just next to the lake.

The historical town centres have a medieval planning made of narrow alleys and intricate routes.
Many houses are built around courtyards sometimes hiding behind ancient thick portals.

Intra offers many shops and restaurants and on a Saturday, the town hosts a vast open market selling fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, crude cuts, fish, and also clothes, Italian leather items, shoes and so on.
Pallanza is a very quiet village; it has a beautiful lakefront overlooking the Borromean Islands crowned by the Swiss Alps on the background. In Pallanza, there are sumptuous hotels as well as restaurants and pizzerias.
On the hills and by the lake there are numerous beautiful historical villas, among which Villa Taranto with its beautiful gardens open to the public. In Pallanza, there is also Museo del Paesaggio, a museum hosting important art collections both for painting and sculpture.
VerbaniaSuna is a village that has been well preserved through the centuries, its architecture and its narrow alleys still recreate the atmosphere of long ago.
